Turn your Practice into a Performance and have fun !
Part of a collection of twelve contrasting pieces entitled "Let ‘em Loose", a new initiative for Junior brass players, who are engaging in their very early and initial ensemble activities.
This resource helps develop both tight rhythmic ensemble skills alongside the freedom to improvise.
Created for a combo of (minimum) 3 brass players up to 30+.
Parts 1 & 2 require trumpet or cornet while part 3 can be played by any middle / lower pitched brass instrument. All keys and clefs are catered for.
The drum kit accompaniment helps add style and identity to each of the pieces.
The duration of each piece is completely flexible, with each piece consisting of a HEAD section and an IMPROVISATION section. Each section can be played as many times as best suits the needs of the ensemble.
Think of all that a young brass player stands to miss out on if a basic skill and confidence in improvisation, is not part of their musical tool kit.
A big potato with a big message !
The music here is in two bar phrases.
Melody-wise, if Dave’s Big Potato gives us the first half of each phrase, what can you think of that will provide the second half of each phrase ?
You have four notes, hence four syllables available to you to work this out.
