Description

Forget You was written as a collaboration among Green, Bruno Mars and his production team the Smeezingtons. It was released on August 19, 2010, as the first single from Green's third solo studio album, The Lady Killer (2010). It received acclaim from music critics, and was an international commercial success, making the top-10 in thirteen countries, including topping charts in the UK. In an interview with NME, Green said that, in addition to being about a heartbreak, the song was also about the music industry itself. Several versions of FU have been released: the original recording, censored copies of it, and newer versions that include other performers or significant changes to the lyrics. At the 53rd Grammy Awards FU was nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year and won Best Urban/Alternative Performance. The video was also nominated for Best Short Form Music Video. It was named the number 1 song of 2010 by Time and the best single of 2010 by the Village Voice. Cee Lo toured with an all-female backing band named Scarlet Fever, performing FU on Taratata, at the Reeperbahn Festival, Later with Jools Holland, the Late Show with David Letterman, the 31st annual Children in Need telethon, the Christmas edition of BBC One chart show Top of the Pops, Saturday Night Live and many other venues. Cee Lo also performed at the 53rd Grammy Awards in February 2011, with actress Gwyneth Paltrow and several puppets provided by The Jim Henson Company. Two days later, he sang at the 2011 BRIT Awards alongside UK singer Paloma Faith.

American singer and songwriter Bruno Mars has written songs for his extended play, three solo studio albums and one collaborative album, as well as for other artists and soundtracks. Mars came to prominence as a songwriter with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine, who called themselves the Smeezingtons. The trio worked with various artists, notably on B.o.B's Nothin' on You and Travie McCoy's Billionaire on which Mars sang the last two choruses. as well as for CeeLo Green. They also co-wrote songs for soundtracks: Mars's It Will Rain for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and Young, Wild & Free by Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa featuring Mars for Mac & Devin Go to High School. Mars also co-wrote K'naan's Wavin' Flag, used by Coca-Cola as the theme for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and Matisyahu's One Day, used as NBC's 2010 Winter Olympics theme. The Smeezingtons wrote most of the songs on Mars's debut studio album, including the lead single, Just the Way You Are. Several award shows nominated tracks he co-wrote including this work, Grenade, Locked Out of Heaven, That's What I Like. Leave the Door Open were nominated at the Grammy Awards for Song of the Year; the latter two songs won in that category.

“The entire programme can be likened to a sumptuous feast, with each track having its own highly delectable and thoroughly satisfying flavour. The CD is surely compulsive listening for all brass and percussion enthusiasts.”
