Highway to Hell is a song and the opening track of their 1979 AC/DC album Highway to Hell and was also released as a single. The song was written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott, with Angus Young credited for writing the guitar riff which became an instant classic. AC/DC had made several studio albums before and were constantly promoting them via grueling tour schedules; referred to by Angus Young as being on a highway to hell. The lyrics also reflect the arduous nature of touring constantly and life on the road. The highway that actually inspired the title, Canning Highway, connects the Perth Kwinana Freeway to the port of Fremantle and was home to many of Bon Scott's favourite pubs and hotels.
5 Part Pops for Brass is part of a new collection of Pop inspired arrangements for Brass Quintet arranged by Chris Wilcox.
We hope this repertoire will prompt a growing inquisitiveness for young brass players, and was created with a brass club or gathering in mind.
All transposed parts are included.
AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by Scottish-born brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Their music has been variously described as hard rock, blues rock, and heavy metal but the band themselves call it simply rock and roll. The band underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, 1975's High Voltage. Membership then subsequently stabilised around the Young brothers, singer Bon Scott, drummer Phil Rudd, and bassist Mark Evans. Evans was fired from the band and replaced by Cliff Williams. After Scott died In February 1980, the group considered disbanding but elected to stay together, bringing in longtime Geordie vocalist Brian Johnson as Scott's replacement. Later that year, the band released their first album with Johnson, Backin Black, which was dedicated to Scott's memory. The album launched AC/DC to new heights of success and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. Described by record producer Rick Rubin as the greatest rock and roll band of all time, AC/DC have sold more than 200 million records worldwide.
