Description

Levitating was written by Lipa, Clarence Coffee Jr., Sarah Hudson and Koz, who produced the song with Stuart Price. The song is an electro-disco and nu-disco song with several disco tropes. It incorporates elements of dance-pop, pop-funk, power pop and space rock as well as 1970s, 1980s and 1990s pop and R&B styles. The lyrics describe the idea of levitating when falling in love, with several outer space references. A remix of by American DJ the Blessed Madonna featuring Madonna and Missy Elliott was released on 13 August 2020 as the lead single from Lipa and the Blessed Madonna's remix album Club Future Nostalgia (2020). It was categorised as an EDM, electro-disco, electro house, future bass, and techno track, with a throwback disco and trance vibe. Levitating" reached number five on the UK Singles Chart and number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. Lipa promoted the single with live performances on The Graham Norton Show, at the American Music Awards of 2020, and on Saturday Night Live. The Will Hooper-directed music video was filmed in London and Atlanta and has a theme of love conquers all. It sees many people under the influence of a mysterious planet and being obsessed with a maze-like symbol.

Dua Lipa (born 22 August 1995) is an English and Albanian singer and songwriter. Her voice and disco-influenced production have received critical acclaim and media coverage. Her accolades include 7 Brit Awards and 3 Grammy Awards. Time magazine included her in its list of the top 100 most influential people in the world for 2024 and estimated her net worth at £90 million. Lipa worked as a model before signing a recording contract with Warner Bros. She rose to prominence with her eponymous debut album in 2017, which peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart and spawned the singles Be the One, IDGAF, and the UK number-one single New Rules. Lipa was honoured with the Brit Awards for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. Lipa has been described by the media as a fashion icon. Wearing a Versace dress and Bulgari diamonds she was rated as one of the best dressed celebrities at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony by various media. Described as being a Culture Definer, in May 2018, she was included on British Vogue's list of the 25 most influential British women. The same magazine's review said her 2017 song New Rules is an "anthem of female empowerment. Billboard magazine credited Lipa as being the protagonist in disco's revival in 2020 through her song Don't Start Now (2019), while People magazine called her the Future of Pop. Lipa's first name Dua was her grandmother's suggestion and means love in Albanian and she is occasionally referred to affectionately by fans as Dula Peep. Lipa's native language is Albanian, but she was born and grew up mostly in London and has a London accent.
