Square Escape is the standout action cue from No Time To Die
Hans Zimmer's score for the highly anticipated 2021 James Bond film, No Time To Die is packed full of thrills and spills. The music is clearly a case of shaken and stirred. Hans Zimmer was the composer behind the score for this the 25th James Bond film. Of all his many other scores, "Bond beats them all”, that's what Zimmer told reporters at the premiere. "The integrity with which they go at this movie. There's a reason it's been around this long. You're dealing with people who really respect what they're doing. To be asked [to score the film] is such an honour." The opening credits of No Time to Die features the new Bond song, performed by Billie Eilish, also entitled No Time To Die. The featured guitarist on the film is Johnny Marr, who is best known for his time in The Smiths in the 1980s. Additional music on the album is provided by composer Steve Mazzaro. Aged 18 years old and only equipped with a high school diploma and one month's rent in savings, Steve Mazzaro packed his old car and left his small hometown in to pursue the dream of writing film music in Los Angeles. Over the next few years, Steve's days were spent hustling as a law firm file clerk, followed by nights scoring short films, video games and finally collaborating with London-based Silva Screen Productions in their film music division. Much to his surprise (and relief), the Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer offered Steve a rare and coveted composer position at his Santa Monica based studio, Remote Control Productions. In the following 10 years since, Steve has been given title credits on Army of Thieves, The Rhythm Section, Boss Baby, Icebox, and Bullet to The Head. Collaborations with Zimmer include Dune, Wonder Woman 1984, The Lion King, Dunkirk, Batman vs. Superman, Interstellar, Man of Steel, and Inferno among many other projects. Steve has also collaborated with other composers, such as Lorne Balfe, Geoff Zanelli and Rupert Gregson-Williams. Every single Bond film includes Monty Norman's iconic 'Bond Theme', and this film is no exception. But Zimmer goes one step further, directly including John Barry's theme from On Her Majesty's Secret Service and its song We Have All the Time in the World”. Whether that has any bearing on the plot ? - You’ll just have to go and see the movie.
