This piece celebrates the Township Jive style of South Africa; abundant in many instrumental and vocal representations. In the Zulu language Mambazo means chopping, often visualised in dance moves or the rhythmic accentuation of the music.
PARP ! - a collection of thirty original compositions.
Set at a Junior Band level, PARP ! follows a flexi scoring formula of mixed brass players; requiring a minimum of 4 brass players - but the maximum number is endless.
The pieces are predominantly groove based and seek to take participants through a wide range of styles and musical identities.
In the instance of using just four brass players, playing just the top part in each case will provide a cohesive performance.
