The Tango is the national dance of Argentina. The most famous of Argentina’s tango composer’s is Astor Piazzolla. His modern compositional approach led to such classics as Libertango. In this piece I have borrowed the harmonic underpinning of Libertango over which I have composed a new melody. I have named the piece Maradona in honour of the brilliant Argentinian footballer - Diego Maradona. J.M.
PARP ! - a collection of thirty original compositions.
Set at a Junior Band level, PARP ! follows a flexi scoring formula of mixed brass players; requiring a minimum of 4 brass players - but the maximum number is endless.
The pieces are predominantly groove based and seek to take participants through a wide range of styles and musical identities.
In the instance of using just four brass players, playing just the top part in each case will provide a cohesive performance.
