Bamako is the capital city of the African country Mali and is seen as one of the major centres of African music. Indeed, local and international musical styles are celebrated in Bamako and Mali as a whole, particularly at the Festival in the Desert. Bamako Beat seeks to provide an access point into music of a West African style.

Description

PARP ! - a collection of thirty original compositions.

Set at a Junior Band level, PARP ! follows a flexi scoring formula of mixed brass players; requiring a minimum of 4 brass players - but the maximum number is endless.

The pieces are predominantly groove based and seek to take participants through a wide range of styles and musical identities.

In the instance of using just four brass players, playing just the top part in each case will provide a cohesive performance.

“Wow! What a great CD. The playing is superb”

Dr. Robert Childs
Musical Director, Cory Band
