Reggae music originated in Jamaica and is universally popular. Whatever its pace, reggae has a distinctive groove, which is a 4 beats per bar format, has drums and bass emphasising beats 1 and 3, and with guitar or keyboard emphasising beats 2 and 4. Over this groove is sung or played the melody. These distinct characteristics always hint back to Jamaica; the island of sunshine.
PARP ! - a collection of thirty original compositions.
Set at a Junior Band level, PARP ! follows a flexi scoring formula of mixed brass players; requiring a minimum of 4 brass players - but the maximum number is endless.
The pieces are predominantly groove based and seek to take participants through a wide range of styles and musical identities.
In the instance of using just four brass players, playing just the top part in each case will provide a cohesive performance.
